2013 Code4Lib Virtual Lightning Talks

What do you do when your St. Patrick's Day party plans are cancelled due to illness?  You teach yourself Drupal in a weekend.

The Code4lib group, a group of technology enthusiasts of all shapes and sizes (hackers, programmers, web designers, information architects, archivists, etc.) from all over the world who make libraries and technology (and the intersection of same) their life's work.   It started as a listserv in 2003. Ten years later, the group holds its own annual conference, has an active presence throughout social media, IRC chat and listservs, and - for the first time this year - virtual lightning talks.

My lightning talk was the story of this site - my path to Drupal and what I learned along the way, along with some brief tips on how to get started.   Five minutes was certainly not long enough to scratch the surface, but it is enough to inspire (I hope).

You can view my basic slide deck here and the entire recording of lightning talks here.
