ALA Emerging Leaders 2011

Videogame Collection Development (2011 Emerging Leaders Team G)

ALA Emerging Leaders is a program where librarians with strong potential to shape the future of ALA who are (1) under 35 years of age and (2) working in the profession less than five years have an opportunity to build their leadership skills and learn more about ALA while working on a project for a division/group/committee/roundtable.  Sponsorships from groups, in the form of financial assistance and/or professional opportunities within that group are also available.   Often, Emerging Leaders go on to leadership roles in the group that put forth their project or the group that sponsored them (for example, as a result of my EL sponsorship from the Reference and User Services Association, I co-chaired a task force on reforming the organization).

Our project has continued past the Emerging Leaders year - the 2012 Emerging Leaders used our work to focus on video game review criteria to aid in selection (project page) and I will be speaking on our 2011 work at the ACRL 2013 conference in Indianapolis
